Professor in the Department of Physics at National Cheng Kung University. His research centers on upper-atmospheric electrical discharges and transient luminous events (sprites, blue jets), atmospheric electricity, and lightning physics, together with the development of space and astronomical instrumentation. He is a key member of the science team for the FORMOSAT-2 ISUAL instrument that imaged upper-atmospheric lightning.
