Our center-developed CubeSat, “Gemini–Pollux,” is featured in Issue 682 of Science Monthly (October 2026), whose theme is “The Satellites Above Us.”
The feature, titled “Small Satellite, Big Engineering: Taiwan’s Space Technology and Talent Development through the Gemini–Pollux Mission,” includes interviews with Professor Bing-Zhi Chen of National Cheng Kung University’s Department of Physics and the Han Ming Hsia Space Science & Technology Center, and Assistant Professor Jia-Ting Lin of NCKU’s Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Center. It introduces readers to the Gemini–Pollux CubeSat mission and explains how the team advances systems-engineering practice, space science research, and talent development through a real-world mission.
Built jointly by NCKU faculty, students, and industry partners, Gemini–Pollux focuses on upper-atmosphere and space-weather observations. The mission also gives students hands-on experience in satellite design, integration, testing, and on-orbit operations, while helping Taiwan’s space-industry partners establish valuable flight heritage.
